  • Waiving late fees incurred by small business customers or residential customers due to loss of income or economic circumstances caused by the COVID-19 crisis.
  • Launching outdoor WiFi hotspots provided by Cox to help provide the general public with a reliable internet connection during this time of need.

The “Promise to Pay” program extends payment deadlines

In addition to adding lower-cost plans for new customers and boosting Mbps for all customers, Cox is also providing relief for those who are already using their services.

As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cox Communications has rolled out the Promise to Pay and Promise to Pay with Extension options. These programs were set up to limit the number of payment reminders customers will receive, and even extend the amount of time they’ll have to pay their bill — all without interrupting service.

While users can find the full set of instructions on Cox Communication’s website, navigating the Promise to Pay program is quick and easy:

  • Sign in to your Cox Communications account

Cox extends low-cost internet program for low-income households in Alachua County


In an effort to support people who are in need of cox com pay bill, Cox Communications has launched Connect Assist,  a reduced price internet initiative that can be provided to people who qualify for government assistance programs such as SNAP, WIC, Medicaid and more. 

The program, introduced Nov. 16, was created to help people transition to the increased emphasis on virtual environment that the COVID-19 pandemic presented. 

"I think with the pandemic hitting last year, we saw the need for people to get connected. With so many people going to work from home and school from home, we needed to find a way to get people connected and then find a way to make it affordable," said Cam Johnson, spokesperson for the Cox Southeast region.

For $30 a month, eligible Alachua County residents can receive in-home Wi-Fi with internet speeds up to 50 megabits per second. Customers who do not qualify for the program and who are not currently under a promotional rate pay $65.99 per month for the same service.

"This is high-speed internet. This is broadband internet through the Connect Assist program that they can utilize, get online and learn. To do whatever it is they need to do. this could be a great program for college students on just $30 how to open a bankmobile vibe account month," Johnson said. 

Connect2Compete

The Connect Assist program is similar to the Connect2Compete program, which was initiated in 2012 to help with the digital divide that impacted low-income students in grades K-12. Families who qualified for government assistance programs were eligible to apply and it lowered their internet bill to $9.95 a month.  

On top of having the Connect Assist program, families and residents also can apply for the Emergency Broadband Program, which allows eligible households to receive $50 off their internet service. That would make the service free for eligible households.

"Most people who qualify for Connect Assist will also qualify for the Emergency Broadband benefits," Johnson said. 

Eligible households can apply for the Connection Assist on Cox Communications' website. Residents who qualify for the program should receive immediate approval after they fill out the online application. 

"We want people to take advantage of these programs. We want people to get connected to make sure everybody has that equal opportunity to be connected," Johnson said.

Once on the Registration page, there are only three items needed to create your account.

  1. Email Address: This will be used along with a password you create to access your online account. This will also be the email address to receive any correspondance Cox Disposal, Inc. sends through the website.
  2. Password: This will be created by you during the registration process. It will be used along with your email address to access your online account.
