The Jaguar F-Type (X152) is a series of two-door, two-seater grand tourers manufactured by British luxury car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover under their Jaguar Cars marque since 2013.[3] The car's JLR D6a platform is based on a shortened version of the XK's platform.[3] It is the so-called "spiritual successor" to the famous E-Type.[4]
The car was launched initially as a 2-door soft-top convertible, with a 2-door fastbackcoupé version launched in 2013.[5]
The F-Type underwent a facelift for the 2021 model year. It was unveiled in December 2019, featuring a significantly restyled front end and dashboard, and simplified drivetrain options.[6][7]
XJ41/XJ42 concept (1986)[edit]
The F-Type name was first used on a pair of completely unrelated concepts as far back as 1982, when Jaguar realised that the XJ-S had grown too large in size and weight to be classed as a proper successor to the E-Type. Then, two new projects, codenamed the XJ41 (coupé) and XJ42 (convertible) got to an advanced state of development by 1988, however the project was cancelled when Ford Motor Company took over Jaguar in 1989, and the newly installed management determined that upgrading the company's dated production facilities was a higher priority. The XJ-S was given a major facelift (being renamed the XJS) instead as a stop gap solution. The XJ41/XJ42 studies ultimately evolved into the Aston Martin DB7 and the Jaguar XK8 which were launched in 1994 and 1996 respectively.[8][9]
F-Type concept (2000)[edit]
The F-Type concept was a two-seat speedster with a 3.0-litre V6 engine from the S-Type saloon conceived to compete against light weight sports cars, such as the Porsche Boxster. Geoff Lawson, Jaguar's Head of Design, had been working on the development of the car, leading a team of three designers namely Keith Helfet, Adam Hatton and Pasi Pennanen. C-X16 concept (2011)[edit]

The C-X16 concept takes cues from the 2010 C-X75plug-in hybridconcept sports car, including the shape of the front grille and the wrap-around rear lights, along with a side-hinged opening rear window reminiscent of the 1961 E-Typefastbackcoupé.[12]
The concept car was unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Jaguar stated that the C-X16 was their smallest car since the 1954 Jaguar XK120, at: 4,445 mm (175.0 in) length; 2,048 mm (80.6 in) width; 1,297 mm (51.1 in) height.[13]
The F-Type which was previewed stylistically by the C-X16, was developed under the project code "X152".[14]
Production variants[edit]
F-Type Convertible (2013–present)[edit]
The convertible version of F-Type was first unveiled in Sundance, London[15] which was followed by a presentation at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed (with a bare chassis).[16]
F-Type Coupé (2014–present)[edit]

The coupé variant of the F-Type was unveiled at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show (F-Type R Coupé)[17][18] and 2013 Tokyo Motor Show,[19] followed by 2013 Jaguar Academy of Sport Annual Awards,[20] an exclusive event in Canary Wharf, London.[21]
The coupé went on sale in spring 2014. Launch models scheduled include the F-Type, F-Type S and F-Type R.[22]
F-Type SVR (2016–2020)[edit]

At the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016, Jaguar unveiled the F-Type SVR. Available in both coupé and convertible body styles along with having all-wheel-drive, it features the same 5.0-litre superchargedV8 engine from the V8 S and R, but has a maximum power output of 575 PS (567 hp; 423 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 700 N⋅m (516 lb⋅ft) of torque at 3,500-5,000 rpm, the car can accelerate from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 3.5 seconds and can attain a top speed of 322 km/h (200 mph), making it the first Jaguar road car since the XJ220 to reach 322 km/h (200 mph). The SVR convertible can attain a top speed of 312 km/h (194 mph).[citation needed] The F-Type SVR was discontinued in 2020.[23][24]
F-Type SVR GT4 (2018-present)[edit]
The Jaguar F-Type SVR GT4 is a race car made for the 2018-19 British GT Championship. Invictus Games was created by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex as an international adaptive multi-sport event for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel. In 2018 Invictus Racing was set up to offer those in the armed forces who had suffered, the opportunity to compete in the 2018-19 British GT Championship. To make this happen James Holder, co-founder of the clothing brand Superdry, the Invictus Games Foundation and Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations department collaborated to create a race team using two specially developed F-Types. The team was to be run by the very successful David Appleby Engineering.
2018 was a very steep learning curve in the very competitive British GT Championship and 2019 the rewards came with GT4 Pro/Am class wins at Oulton Park in races 1 and 2, and 2nd at Snetterton and Spa.
Both cars campaigned in 2018 and in 2019 the attention was focused on the one car with the other being used for testing purposes.
Estimated at $253,000 to $324,000 for two GT race cars, including an extensive spares package, is a very exciting prospect, bearing in mind a huge amount of expense far above the estimate has been put into this extremely special and unique project. Inspired by this, the british company Aston Martin made the V12 Vantage rally cars.
Facelift[edit]
The facelifted F-Type was unveiled in December 2019 with design and technological updates.[25] On the exterior, it received new Pixel LED headlamps, new slender taillamps, 10-spoke 20-inch wheels, and a choice of new exterior paint finishes.[25] Interior features include a new 12.3-inch reconfigurable TFT instrument cluster and a 10-inch Touch Pro infotainment system. The V6 engine option is now only available in North American markets, with the SVR variant discontinued. The lineup now consists of the following models:[26]
F-Type P300[edit]
The Jaguar F-Type P300 is the entry-level model having a 2.0 L turbocharged inline-4 engine rated at 300 PS (221 kW; 296 hp). It accelerates to 97 km/h (60 mph) in 5.7 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
F- Type P380[edit]
This variant of the F-Type is exclusive to North American market and remains the same power wise at 380PS
F-Type P450[edit]
The Jaguar F-Type P450 shares the same 5.0 L supercharged V8 with the F-Type R, but detuned to 450 PS (331 kW; 444 hp). It accelerates to 97 km/h (60 mph) in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed accounting free software for small business 284 km/h (176 mph).
F-Type R P575[edit]
The Jaguar F-Type R has a 5.0 L supercharged V8 rated at 575 PS (423 kW; 567 hp), 25 PS more than the outgoing model. It accelerates to 97 km/h (60 mph) in 3.5 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).
Technical details[edit]
Chassis[edit]
The F-Type utilises an all-aluminium unitary chassis, assembled with flush rivets and glue.[27] Sound and vibration insulation is provided by the addition of a special underbody tray and engine mounts, and a double bulkhead between the engine bay and passenger compartment. The convertible roof is an electrically operated retractable fabric piece. Jaguar says by eschewing metal it can keep the car's centre of gravity low, while a Thinsulate layer means thermal and sound insulation is akin to a solid roof.[28]
Powertrain[edit]
At launch, the entry-level model used Jaguar's new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine, producing a maximum power output of 340 PS (250 kW; 335 hp), enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in 5.1 seconds, and attain a top speed of 259 km/h (161 mph). The F-Type S has the same engine uprated at 380 PS (279 kW; 375 hp), allowing the car to attain a top speed of 275 km/h (171 mph), and achieve acceleration from 0 to 97 km/h (60 mph) in 4.8 seconds. Next in the range is the V8 F-Type R, with Jaguar's 5.0-litre, 550 PS (405 kW; 542 hp) supercharged V8 petrol engine, allowing the car to attain a top speed of 299 km/h (186 mph) and accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h (60 mph) in 4.0 seconds. In 2018, a 2.0 L turbocharged Inline-4 engine was added as the new entry-level powertrain, which is Jaguar's first four-cylinder sports car.

Suspension[edit]
The F-Type has a double-wishbone front and rear suspension with adaptive dampers and adjustable suspension settings to allow the driver to adjust ride and handling. The car has a total of 25 different driving modes programmed to suit different road conditions and driving styles.[28]
Interior[edit]
The interior of the F-Type has a two-seater setup with the leather upholstery and control buttons finished in aluminium. There is a touchscreen display in the centre console and another TFT display usaa cd rates today the dials in the instrument panel. There is also a choice of flat-bottom or Alcantara finish for the three-spoke steering wheel and buttons finished in soft-feel matte black.[28]
Equipment[edit]
The F-Type debuted a stop-start engine shutoff function, which Jaguar claims boosts economy by 5 percent.[28]
The F-Type features bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, along with full LED lighting at the rear. The S and V8 S versions come equipped with an "active exhaust system" which opens special valves over 3,000 rpm to intensify the sound profile.[28]
There is a retractable rear wing and door handles that are left hidden with the bodywork until needed. The fabric roof on the convertible raises or lowers in 12 seconds, and can be used when the car is moving at up to 48 km/h (30 mph).[28]
The audio systems offered, use Meridian technology with either 380 W spread across ten speakers or 770 W across twelve speakers.[28]

Marketing and reception[edit]
In August 2012, it was announced that American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey would be the face of the F-Type, which credit vs debit card difference at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012.[30] The car won Car of The Year at the 2013 Middle East Motor Awards.
In April 2013 a short film called Desire was launched at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival[31] to promote the Jaguar F-Type. Directed by Adam Smith from Ridley Scott Associates, starring Damian Lewis, Jordi Molla and Shannyn Sossamon.[32]
As part of convertible launch celebration in the UK, Jaguar launched its #YourTurnBritain campaign; inviting people to share photos that encapsulate the best of modern Britain through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Tumblr. The best images submitted would win one of four unforgettable F-Type driving experiences. A fleet of Union Jack liveried F-Types embarked on a 'Best of British' promotional tour as part of the car's launch activity and Jaguar's #YourTurnBritain social media campaign, with the help of ambassadors Jamie Campbell Bower, Alice Temperley, MistaJam, Graeme Swann and Jimmy Anderson. The tour started in London in August 2013 and visited Leeds and Newcastle (12th), Edinburgh and Glasgow (13th), Manchester and Liverpool (14th), Sheffield, Nottingham and Birmingham (15th) Cardiff, Bristol and Oxford (16th). Londoners were able to see the cars from 12 to 23 August as they took residence at Canary Wharf.[33]
David Gandy was featured in a film titled 'Escapism' featuring a Jaguar F-Type convertible. In the film, Trailer homes for rent in las cruces nm gave the viewers insight into his life as he invited them on a road trip that started at dusk as he escaped 'the craziness of London'. David Gandy: Escapism features the style icon driving his favourite British heritage cars from the C-Type, E-Type and XKSS, through to the very latest F-Type. The film was previewed at the 2013 Goodwood Revival.[34]
As part of F-Type coupé launch in the US, a 60-second TV commercial titled 'Rendezvous' was premiered the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLVIII.[35] In addition, a dozen New York City Subway trains were wrapped with ads advertising the F-TYPE in preparation for the Super Bowl XLVIII.[36] On 2 February 2014, Jaguar unveiled the new coupé through a Super Bowl advertisement. The "British Villains" campaign (created by SPARK44, managed by Mindshare) captures the premise that Brits have long made the best villains in landmark films, combining intelligence with charm, restlessness with calm, and are always confident. Jaguar pet insurance usaa cost the idea that British were considered "bad" by Americans because of Hollywood movies always portraying villains to be British. Sir Second round of stimulus check update Kingsley, Tom Hiddleston, and Mark Strong all support the villainous way of life as being good. Using these "villains" as the face of Jaguar helped support the edgy side of the luxury brand. This Super Bowl advertisement also challenged other luxury automotive markets in the US stating that Jaguar is just as edgy or maybe more than the other luxury automotive brands.[37] The 'Rendezvous' commercial launched the campaign, which introduced the Jaguar F-Type Coupe and jaguar f type svr 0 60 the campaign's unique hashtag, #GoodToBeBad. Following the 'Rendezvous' commercial premiere at Super Bowl XLVIII, 'The Set-Up' commercial was premiered on 12 January 2014 and the YouTube premiere of 'Rendezvous' on 28 January. "Rendezvous" was filmed by Hooper in London in a creative partnership with his Smuggler Films production house. The spot's original score for "Rendezvous" was composed and conducted by Alexandre Desplat and recorded by The London Symphony Orchestra at the Abbey Road studios. Jaguar also hosted the campaign page, www.BritishVillains.com, with information about the F-Type Coupé, the commercial and some unique video content including teasers starring each of the three actors. In addition to broadcast, the multi-channel campaign's Super Bowl efforts included unique outdoor creative throughout New York City, print, digital and consumer activations hosted with a wide array of media partners, and special events in the week leading up to the Super Bowl. The British Villains campaign continues with regularly updated content through July 2014.[38]
As part of Jaguar F-Type Coupé launch in China, David Beckham joined Jaguar as a brand ambassador. The print creative material used in this campaign was produced by fashion photographer and filmmaker Peter Lindbergh.[39]
The Jaguar F-Type Coupé has also been featured in singer Demi Lovato's Sorry Not Sorry music video and Nick Jonas's Find You music video.
Red Jaguar F-Type R Coupé has been featured in South Korean dramaMy Lovely Girl as car of main character portrayed by Korean singer/actor Rain. Drama was aired in South Korea on SBS from 17 September to 6 November 2014 on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 21:55 for 16 episodes (Jaguar F-type was featured from episode 3).

400 Sport[edit]
The Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport, a special-edition model that would remain on sale for just one year, was launched as part of a raft of revisions to the British sports car. The F-Type 400 Sport launch edition is powered by an upgraded version of the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine producing a power output of 400 PS (294 kW; 395 hp) (hence the name) and the addition of the Super Performance braking system (which features 380 mm front and 376 mm rear discs and black calipers with 400 Sport logo) and a Configurable Dynamics system which allows drivers to select individual settings for the throttle, transmission, steering and dampers. The F-Type 400 Sport features unique 20-inch alloy wheels.
The car features '400 Sport' badges on the front splitter and rear of the car, as well as the centre console, steering wheel, tread plates and embroidered headrests. The F-Type 400 is available as either a coupé or convertible and in either rear or all-wheel drive.[40][41]
Project 7[edit]
The Project 7 is based on the F-Type Convertible, and is powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, generating a maximum power output of 575 PS (423 kW). The engine is shared with the F-Type SVR. Only up to 250 units were made and the car is considered to be Jaguar's most powerful production car ever, alongside the F-Type SVR. The body shell of the car is made from aluminium, reminiscing the historical D-Type LeMans winner.[42] Visually, it features an 'Aero Haunch' behind the driver, similar to 1950s D-Type, a quad exhaust and a fixed rear spoiler. The project 7 has a claimed 0–97 km/h (0–60 mph) acceleration time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 299 km/h (186 mph).
The Project 7 is a skunkworks design penned by Italian-Brazilian designer César Pieri.[43] It was discovered by chance when Pieri accidentally showed it to Jaguar chief-designer Ian Callum. The concept then became a functional prototype and eventually reached production.

The Coupe R and Convertible R are two of the best sports cars on the road today.
For 2019, the four- and six-cylinder engines get names to match their horsepower: P300, P340 and P380. Meanwhile, the V8s carry on with their same names, the R making 550 hp and SVR making 575. Also new for 2019 is a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen. For 2018, the Jaguar F-Type added a turbocharged four-cylinder engine to its lineup, joining two supercharged V6s and two supercharged V8s.
The P300’s 2.0-liter turbo four makes 296 horsepower, mated to an 8-speed automatic, while the 3.0-liter supercharged V6s are mated either to a 6-speed manual or the 8-speed automatic, with all-wheel drive available. The P340’s standard 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with 340 horsepower can accelerate from zero to sixty in 5.1 seconds and hit 161 miles per hour. The P380 with the same V6 making 380 horsepower knocks 0.3 seconds off that time and adds 10 mph to the top speed. The V6 engines sound a little coarse under acceleration, with the whine of the supercharger subdued and drowned by engine noise.
The F-Type R with its 5.0-liter supercharged V8 making 550 horsepower accelerates from zero to sixty in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 186 miles per hour. Optional sport exhaust makes it sound throaty like a V8 Mustang. It’s all-wheel drive, mated to an 8-speed automatic.The F-Type SVR, also all-wheel drive, makes 575 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, dropping the 0-60 time to 3.5 seconds and raising the top speed to 200 miles per hour. There’s lots of carbon-fiber trim, and a titanium exhaust system makes the engine downright raucous. Its suspension and steering are tuned for performance, while carbon-ceramic brakes are available. It needs a track to be pushed.
The 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters is just about the best automatic we know (that isn’t a twin-clutch). If you bok financial refinance rates have an old-school manual gearbox, you’ll have to stick to the base 340-hp F-Type with rear-wheel drive. It’s good but the sweet automatic shifts faster and gets better fuel mileage.
The new turbo-four base engine is EPA-rated at 23 mpg City, 30 Highway, 26 Combined. The 340-hp V6 with 8-speed automatic rates 19/27/22 mpg, or 1 mpg less with all-wheel drive. Model Lineup
The Jaguar F-Type price sheet shows 24 models, ranging in price from $59,900 for the P300 Coupe with automatic transmission and new turbocharged four engine, to the 575-horsepower SVR Coupe with the supercharged V8 and all-wheel drive for more than twice that, at $121,900. The Convertibles are about $3000 more than the Coupes.Standard equipment on the P300 includes leather upholstery, 10.0-inch touchscreen for Jaguar’s InControl Touch infotainment, LED headlights, a 380-watt Meridian-branded audio system, power front seats with memory, navigation, and a rearview camera. Exterior
The nose of the F-Type is sleek and tall, with a big grille that isn’t an oval and LED accents that sharpen the look from front. Hints of Maserati and Corvette might be seen in the styling, a notion we suspect Jaguar would not agree with. The lines along the side flow beautifully, with inset door handles to keep things flat and smooth. The roofline of the coupe is streamlined. The best view is from the rear, with powerful haunches and rounded taillamps that suggest history.Interior
The F-Type interior is gorgeous. The cockpit is intense, with deeply set gauges, elevated mechanical bits, and a grab handle for the passenger. It’s snug but comfortable, and focused on leather, non-traditional in that there isn’t one splinter of wood. It might feel focused on functional, if it weren’t for the new 10-inch touchscreen for infotainment, and big rotary climate knobs, not to mention the start button and paddle controls in orange like a ship’s emergency raft. Options for trim include red leather and carbon on the dash.
The seats get firmer and more bolstered, as the horsepower in the models rises. The trunk stays the same tiny size, although no smaller than any two-seat sports car. The power convertible top folds so that a tonneau cover isn’t necessary, at speeds up to 30 mph.The cabin is quiet inside, until you hammer the throttle and either the coarse V6 or throaty V8 do their thing. With the new turbo four, and artificial exhaust sound is pumped into the cabin. It tries too hard.
Driving Impressions
The Jaguar F-Type delivers performance that rivals the best. The aluminum chassis is about balance as well as lightness. The standard brake-based torque vectoring increases stability during hard cornering.
Against traditional sports cars like the Chevrolet Corvette, the F-Type has one four-season asset: available all-wheel drive, standard on V8 models and optional with most V6s. We like the all-wheel drive for its practicality, although there isn’t a strong sense of all-wheel drive when driving it. The heavier V8 doesn’t handle as light and direct as the V6, but almost.
The P300’s 296-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, is strong but slightly little buzzy at low speeds. It makes a great daily driver, with the softest ride on standard 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Convertible F-Type takes bumps harder than the Coupe, but that doesn’t make the handling sloppy. The available adaptive dampers help a lot. They bring out the sports car in this Jaguar.
The P340 and P380 are quick and nimble, but yaw more and lack the precision of a Porsche Boxster or Cayman. The ride is stiff but not jarring. The coupe, being more rigid than the convertible, handles better, with or without the adaptive dampers.
The F-Type R almost matches the precision of the Boxster and Cayman, in spite of the Jaguar’s greater mass. The F-Type R feels at home on the track. It’s more entertaining to drive than anything in its class, except the Porsche 718 Cayman S and Corvette Z06. The suspension is firmer but not stiff, and the steering is brilliant.
The F-Type SVR is made for track days. It’s punishing around town and the optional expensive carbon-ceramic brakes can be unpredictable.
Final Word
The Jaguar F-Type is among the best sports cars in the world. The P300, whose 2.0-liter turbo-four engine was new in 2018, is relatively affordable. F-Type models cleanly cover the stretch from daily driver to staggering track-day supercharged V8 beast. The transmission is the best 8-speed automatic in the game.

The visible changes are the standard stuff you expect from a refresh. It looks a little more aggressive and sharper, like slimmer headlights, more cuts and creases, etc. But, what’s not visible are the tweaks and add-ons made to it that make it a better performer and increases the aerodynamic efficiency.

Overall, the SUV looks smarter and the changes made to it will aid its performance capabilities better.

Jaguar has made use of more premium material inside the cabin apart from the technology upgrades. The seats and doors are finished in Alcantara and other elements are upholstered in Windsor leather. New optional slimline semi-aniline leather sports seats are now on offer that feature unique embroidery and perforations. The automaker has even upgraded the drive selector for a “more performance-focused feel”. The other features inside the cabin include Active Road Noise Cancellation technology that basically monitors vibrations from the road surface and calculates the opposite phase sound wave needed to remove the noise heard by the occupants. Many moons back, the company also announced that it is working on an anti-motion sickness technology. Perhaps, it works on a similar foundation and we could see it feature in the coming years.
Jaguar has also introduced the second-generation wearable Activity Key that can be used to access and start the F-Pace SVR. It replaces the conventional key fob. Driver Assistance features like Clear Exit Monitor and Adaptive Cruise Control are also present. The U.K.-spec models also benefit from a Guardian Mode. There is also stuff like the 3-D camera that works stark county real estate search real-time and cabin air ionization. The 2021 F-Pace received a 14-speaker Meridian sound system and ambient lighting, but there’s no word about the same in the F-Pace SVR.

The Jaguar F-Pace SVR is still powered by the same 5.0-liter, V-8 supercharged engine that dishes out 542 horses. However, the torque has increased from 502 pound-feet to 516 pound-feet.
This doesn’t seem like a lot, but coupled with the changes made to the aerodynamics, the SUV can now sprint to 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.8 seconds, making it three-tenths of a second quicker than its predecessor. The top speed is rated at 178 mph, two mph more than the model SVR.
The engine is paired to the same eight-speed transmission that was used in the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 sedan. Power is sent to all the wheels via an active all-wheel-drive system. Furthermore, there’s an electronically controlled active rear differential and torque vectoring by braking. The SUV comes with configurable dynamics and features A stopwatch, G-Meter, and pedal graph 1st grade common core standards help the driver to monitor the performance,
The 2021 Jaguar F-Pace SVR comes with a whole of other changes, too. It features a new steering system with revised calibration that’s unique to SVR. The dampers are re-tuned for a stiffer setup that makes the ride feel more connected and mechanical. The SVR also benefits from other software upgrades and tuning that result in a sharper throttle response. The company also noted that an integrated Power Booster has uprated the braking performance and offers more confidence. Finally, there’s the switchable active exhaust system with a quad-pipe setup.
