Can i take my bmw to any mechanic -

BMWs are some of the coolest, most powerful, and just well-made cars on the market. Not only are they stylish, but many BMWs are also good cars for everyday driving. That said, before you or anyone else buys a BMW, there’s one big mistake you may have already made.

Research is key

RELATED: The Safest BMWs of 2019 Will Keep You Safe in Style

As with making any major financial decision, research is key. Research isn’t just important for the particular specs or trim that you’re looking at, but you should also look at the hidden costs that dealerships probably don’t want you to know about before you sign on the dotted line. Unless you’re so rich that a brand-new BMW is worth pocket change to you, a car’s price is probably one of the biggest factors that you’ll be looking at.

In terms of a car’s hidden price tag, many people may already be familiar with things such as how its fuel economy can affect your wallet in the long run, but there are other costs as well. Depreciation is another hidden cost, and many cars will lose their value really quickly. This may ultimately hurt how much you can sell your car for if you ever go down that route.

That said, by far the most relevant reason why every BMW fan needs to do more research on their potential new Beemer is repair costs. If you do not do this research, then you’ve made the biggest mistake you could make.

BMWs cost a lot to maintain

According to Your Mechanic, BMWs are easily the most expensive car brand to maintain. It’s not even a close contest. BMW is in first place, with an average maintenance cost over 10 years of $17,800. In second place was Mercedes-Benz, which had an average 10-year maintenance cost of $12,900. For comparison, Toyotas are well-known for not needing much maintenance, and as such, the average Toyota only cost $5,500 to maintain over 10 years.

This massive maintenance fee is not uncommon in German luxury cars, according to Your Mechanic. Audi is in fifth place with an average 10-year maintenance cost of $12,400. This is mostly because these luxury cars use expensive, high-end parts. When those parts break or need repairs, naturally, they’ll cost a lot of money to repair.

That said, despite being luxury cars, they also suffer from chronic issues as well. For example, Your Mechanic said that the average BMW was four times more likely to not start than the average car. This put it in seventh place overall. Additionally, for some reason, BMW’s window regulator needed a replacement 18 times more often than the average car needed one.

Be wary of used BMWs too

RELATED: Does Anyone Regret Buying a BMW?

While a used BMW may be a great way to get a cool and powerful car cheaply, those old Beemers may end up costing you more in the long run. An old and used BMW isn’t too different than an old and used car from any other automaker. It’s still probably going to have a lot of issues, the difference is that you’re probably going to have to pay a lot more to fix them.

Obviously, each used car is a roll of the dice, and there’s no guarantee that your used BMW will require massive repairs. But, if it does, then it will probably cost you a lot of money, and in some cases, it may cost you as much as you spent on the car.

This is ultimately the risk of buying a BMW as its repair costs are so high that the car may cost you a lot more than the sticker price said it would. That’s why research is key when you’re considering buying a BMW, new or used.

auto car bmw

So, you’re trying to determine whether to take your BMW to a certified mechanic or just any mechanic near you. Technically speaking, and correlating with free will, of course, you can take your BMW to any mechanic you want but there is a little more to it than that.

For starters, not every mechanic is qualified to do work on a BMW. Many modern models, including BMWs, are highly specialized. You may think that a car is a car – all of them have four wheels and a steering, but that’s pretty much where the similarities end.

In this post, we will discuss the benefits of going to a BMW authorized mechanic as opposed to a regular mechanic.

Why a certified BMW mechanic is a smarter choice

If you take pride in your BMW, you probably want the highest quality maintenance for it. A mechanic or a service center that is certified to work on BMWs will treat your car with unmatched skill and expertise. This is because they are looking at BMW’s all day every day.

From equipment to experience, a certified mechanic knows the specific needs of BMW vehicles and drivers. But that’s not all; here are a few key reasons why you should choose a BMW certified mechanic to work on your car:

Specialized Training: All BMW certified technicians undergo tailored and thorough training to handle the maintenance needs of a BMW.

These extremely qualified auto service professionals know every BMW model like the back of their hand. As a result, if there is something wrong with your car, or it requires any preventative measures to ensure smooth operation, a certified mechanic will know what to do.

For the uninitiated, becoming a BMW certified technician requires 5 years of comprehensive training. You may not always need such a highly-qualified mechanic, but it’s comforting to know that the certified BMW mechanic you have chosen is trained to know what makes your car tick.

Access to Original BMW Parts: This cannot be stressed enough; BMW certified mechanics use only original and top-quality parts when it comes to repairing or tuning-up your BMW.

The same can’t be said of an average mechanic; not to mention that most small-time mechanics won’t be able to procure the original parts in the first place. When you go to a certified technician, you’ll never have to worry about them using off-brand, lower-quality components to rip you off.

Access to the Right Tools: Chris Bangle, the chief designer at BMW, once famously said, “We don’t build cars as consumer objects, we build mobile works of art.” That is the guiding spirit behind BMW’s engineering and only those technicians are well equipped to do justice to this machine who are not only familiar with its workings, but also have access to reliable tools.

All BMW models require a wide range of services that require specific equipment and tools. The right tools can make the world of difference in the efficiency of a vehicle’s repair and maintenance.

It may be possible to repair a BMW without proper tools, but it will take much longer and you will be charged more for labor. Also, without the right tools, an average mechanic can take shortcuts that will impact the quality of the repair job.

For example, the industry standard for running automobile diagnostics is the OBD2 system. However, BMW has its very own proprietary system that’s designed to provide an incredibly accurate picture of potential issues and help find the right fix.

Professional Affiliations: A BMW mechanic’s commitment to quality repair work can be measured by their affiliations to professional organizations such as Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

The ASE blue seal of excellence can only be earned by undergoing rigorous testing and training. A mechanic or service center who holds the ASE certification, like FREED Performance does, can be entrusted to take good care of your BMW.

Consistent Quality Care: Regardless of which BMW certified mechanic you go to, you will get consistently good service. This is because they are all trained to perform the same quality of care, and they adhere to the exact high standard of the BMW brand.

We are assuming that as a BMW owner, you are in love with your car – just like most BMW certified mechanics. It’s obviously important to you to know who works on your car and where you take it for a tune-up.

Remember, most certified mechanics are actual BMW enthusiasts who have a deep passion for the brand. By choosing a trustworthy mechanic who has taken the time to become certified, you will end up with far better service for your BMW. In fact, you’ll probably find that the mechanic loves your car as much as you!

While it may be tempting to drive your car straight to any repair shop in your vicinity, it may not be the best decision for your BMW or your budget. A certified expert can also offer you several discounts that come from the top (the BMW brand itself). These deals are often reserved for certified mechanics and service centers, and you may not find them anywhere else.

Choose an experienced repair specialist

BMWs have the reputation of being one of the most high-performance and reliable automobiles in the world. But, like any other car, there comes a time when even a BMW needs preventative maintenance or repairs to keep going. If you’ve bought one of the world’s finest cars, it makes sense to be choosy when it comes to its repair specialist.

One of the authorized and certified BMW service centers in Atlanta is FREED Performance BMW repair shop. They offer extended warranties on the BMW repairs, so you know that work was done to exacting standards using the right tools and original parts.

It is worthwhile to choose a BMW repair expert that invests in specialized diagnostic computers and pieces of equipment to ensure that the clients’ vehicles are well taken care of. Running diagnostics and providing effective solutions for repairs for German cars is a specialty area, and not every car service center may be equipped for it. You should also look for any attractive deals and discounts on BMW repair and maintenance services that a provider may be offering.

Why do we love repairing BMW’s?

My Dad, Steve Spinnett owner and founder of Steve’s Imports told me a story of his first BMW that I absolutely love. One sunny day about 38 years ago, he was driving past a BMW dealership. He spotted a bright red 1975 BMW 2002 for sale. It was love at first sight.

He immediately pulled a U-turn to go get a closer look at this flawless machine. He drove it that day. Mind you, it was very rare for a mechanic, especially then, to buy a newer vehicle. Mechanics always drive the fixer-uppers! But Steve couldn’t resist.

Decades later we have seen thousands of BMW’s roll through our shop. We love working on these cars and we love driving them.

Carburetors, CSI Injection (not the tv show) Direct Injection, mechanical injection, supercharged, we love them all. We have restored our share of 2002tii cars, and have serviced 1600, E12, E21 and later models.

Ok, alright I wasn’t going to buy the car, just look. That salesman was good, I drove the 2002 off the car lot for keeps! With zero planning, those were the single days. One day when driving in front of my future wife’s house, looking into the rearview mirror, checking out how good I looked with my new bad boy sunglasses, Bam! I rear-ended someone right smack dab in front of her home. No worries, she wondered what I did to my Datsun. I respectfully told her “it was a BMW, A 1975 BMW 2002.

What are the most common BMW repairs we perform?

Some other common auto repairs you may need or have already performed are oil filter stand gasket leaks found on several models such as BMW E39, E46, E90 and other models.

This usually starts as lightly seeping oil then develops into heavier leaks over shorter periods of time.

To properly repair and thoroughly confirm oil leak repairs on BMW, we de-grease and steam-wash the engine. This provides your engine with a nice clean start but it also gives us the opportunity to inspect for any other engine oil, coolant or hydraulic fluid leaks while performing an inspection of the underside of your BMW.

We can help you prioritize repairs to BMW servicing affordable!

You may be stressing potential repair costs on your BMW. Please talk to us about this! We like to create a game plan that is affordable for our customers to keep these fine machines on the road.

We can show you the difference between a critical or high priority repair, and a moderate or lower priority repair so that you accurately understand the current condition of your vehicle.

We understand that you drive a BMW because it gives you an experience like no other vehicle, and it is important for us to make sure we deliver you a similar service experience.

These cars make our job fun. From Munich to Portland, we welcome all BMW’s and their owners.

If you’re a lifelong fan of BMW’s roadster series, Steve’s Imports can ensure that you get as much power out of your engine as you do from its eye-catching design.

From the rare 507 to the familiar Z4, we treat every model with the outright respect they deserve. And just because you’re not tearing up the roadway in your Bimmer, doesn’t mean we won’t show it the same love as we do the speedsters.

Over the years, BMW has expanded its legacy of luxury into a wide array of models, and if the reason you own one is to keep your whole family comfortable then you can feel secure with your X3 Crossover or any other of their larger series in our hands.

Well, you have come to the right place as we will be exploring the servicing of your car, your rights and obligations.

When it comes to collecting and servicing a new car, many car owners can be confused in terms of their servicing requirements and which path is the right one to take.

In terms of your car warranty, you aren’t required to service your BMW by their franchised dealership. But you must think about your car finance arrangements as this may affect the result.

Servicing and your new car warranty

Dipping into the legislation side of things, it is a requirement to pursue an offer of a minimum two-year warranty with all brand new BMW vehicles. This information would be from the date of registration and would be regardless of a change of ownership.

Under EU legislation, it is against the rules to force someone who has bought a new car to have that car serviced by the official franchised dealership. It is also unethical to refuse to legitimise a new warranty simply because that car has been serviced with another dealership. In this case though however, that franchise does have the right to proceed with a servicing schedule for the new buyer which under law, must be completed and followed accordingly.

It is a common act of many manufacturers can i take my bmw to any mechanic provide new car warranty conditions that can be longer than the usual two year warranty precedent. This, however, you will need to do your research and check with your provider due to some providers offering a longer term.

New car warranty and servicing – your rights and responsibilities

So, you have your brand new car and a secured warranty for your BMW. As the owner, you have every right to take your vehicle to any garage for servicing. You must however, assure their license is viable and that they will pursue the identical foundations of the manufacturers servicing schedule that you were provided with.

With this piece of information, it means that the servicing of your car must be carried out with a specific time range and the garage you have chosen must use your manufacturers parts and lubricants.

Tip: Once servicing has amazon work from home salary completed, make sure you keep all receipts and any invoices you have been sent in order to provide proof that your car has been serviced with the correct equipment – proving that you can i take my bmw to any mechanic adhered to your service schedule.

If your car is required to have necessary repair work however, BMW has the legal right to assert themselves as the only manufacturer that should work on your car. This is within their rights to state this to you, plus it can give you a great position to be in as they will be paying for the work and not coming out of your own pocket.

Rule: Repair work = Franchise manufacturer

But if the work is coming out of your own pocket for the work that needs to be done on your car, you have the right to legally choose which garage you want to with.

What about my car finance obligations?

If you have a brand new car finance deal, it is very important to grasp the understanding that although your car warranty won’t be afflicted, your car finance contract might be.

In many cases, it can be stated in your contract that the manufacturer insists on any work on the car to be done within their own workshop facilities if you want to own the car at the end of your financial obligations.

A car that has a full history of their manufacturer servicing will be more valued due to the fact that car has been worked on by the source, not at an independent garage.

Can’t say enough about Jay and his team. I purchased my first BMW recently, and I gotta say I was completely unfamiliar with these cars until I brought mine into Hance’s to have an initial inspection. Not only did Jay perform the inspection, but he gave me a thorough education about the car — it’s quirks, its features, its pros and cons. So thankful I found Hance’s and I will be coming here as long as I continue to own German automobiles.

So happy Hance auto is there for us! Great service on my BMW 650! Honest and reasonably. I highly recommend Hance. They have been servicing all our vehicles for many years. Give Jay and Kendall a call.

Mechanics always drive the first foundation bank lucerne valley But Steve couldn’t resist.
